New Zealand musician, singer–songwriter and record producer Dave Dobbyn in his early career was a member of the rock group Th’Dudes and was the main creative force in pop band DD Smash. Dobbyn has had a successful solo career, starting out with writing the soundtrack music for the animated feature film Footrot Flats: The Dog’s Tale in 1986 that had two chart topping singles.
Dobbyn has nine successful studio albums that charted in the top ten, and have had gold and platinum certification. He has won over 22 music awards, and in 2001 the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ) awarded Dobbyn a rare Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the 2001 New Zealand Music Awards. In 2002 Dobbyn became an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in recognition of his talents and contributions in 2002. In addition Dobbyn is also an inductee into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
