This 4 day tour showcases stunning Mt Fuji and the countryside historic towns of Takayama and Shirakawa-go before travelling by Bullet Train to Kyoto.
Tokyo – Mt Fuji – Hakone
Head to the Fuji Visitor Centre before enjoy a boat trip on Ashi Lake before taking the Mt Komagtake Ropeway. The Ropeway takes you to the top of Mt Komagtake, for the views of Mt. Fuji, lake Ashi, Mt. Futago and the mountains of the distant Izu Peninsula.
Hakone – Takayama
Board the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Takayama known as ‘Little Kyoto and visit the preserved historical streets especially the Sannomachi Street, with many old homes, shops, coffee houses and sake breweries which have been in business for centuries. On arrival you will meet for a walking tour to visit Yatai Kaikan hall and on to Kusakabe Folk Museum. Overnight
Takayama – Shirakawa-go – Kanazawa
Today visit the World Heritage Gokayam Ainokura Village where many of these traditional structures were built over 100 year ago. Next visit the World Heritage Shirakawa-go where you can savour the taste of home-style cooking experience. After lunch, you will have time to walk around the thatched roof village of Shirakawa-go before heading to Kanazawa for your overnight.
Kanazawa – Kyoto
First stop today will be the Higashi Chaya district with its wooden – latticed teahouses, where something from the Edo period still lingers in the air. Your next visit will be Tentoku-in Temple where you will see the Karakuri Puppet Show. followed by some free time to walk around the Nagamachi Samurai District. Followed by one of Japans most beautiful landscaped gardens, Kenrouku-en Gardens. In the late afternoon take the train to Kyoto where your tour ends .

1/ This is a locally guided tour with different local guides provided for you in each city. The tour operates on a modular basis and you may be travelling with different passengers each day.
2/ Trains in Japan do not have adequate space for luggage storage. Your baggage will be transferred overland from Hakone to Kyoto on day 2 and will be at your hotel when you arrive in Kyoto on day 4. An allowance of one piece of baggage per person is included. Additional pieces will incur a surcharge payable direct in Japan. Alternatively if you are returning to Tokyo at the completion of this tour we recommend leaving your main luggage at your Tokyo Hotel and travelling with a small overnight bag.
