And the best thing of a Vietnam Beach holiday? You can combine time at the beach and at your resort with some great shopping, fascinating sightseeing and amazing cuisine. Our Vietnam beach holiday guide brings you an insight into the best Vietnam beach for you.
Our top pick has for this very reason has to be the Central Coast Vietnam which is located half way along Vietnam’s huge coastline and covers the area from the Imperial city of Hue through to charming Hoi An and the port city of Danang.
Danang is not just a city, the coast on the edge of town is fast becoming a mecca for those seeking a stunning world-class resort combined with some great dining and even a round or two of golf. One of the bigger resorts is the stunning Vinpearl Premium Resort & Spa. With 5 pools, a wide choice of room categories, great dining and spa facilities, the resort is perfect for a stay put beach holiday.
Just down the road from the resort and Danang is the delightful town of Hoi An. This charming ancient trading town is filled with art galleries, small museums, great gift shops, tailors, bars and restaurants. It’s also home to some great options to take in a cooking class or get adventurous with our ethnic community tour by army jeep through the surrounding countryside.
Hoi An is home to a choice of resorts such as the Victoria Hoi An Resort & Spa located sea-side just outside the town. All Danang and Hoi An beach resorts operate a hotel shuttle to and from Hoi An too, so you can head out in the evenings for a choice of dining and shopping. Danang is also home to an International airport and several airlines from New Zealand offer flights via their respective city hubs into Danang.
Further down the coast, almost half-way between Danang and the popular gateway city of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), is Nha Trang. An ideal destination for those seeking some activity with their holiday. The long beach at Nha Trang is lined with eateries and bars to relax at while swimming or sunbathing.
On the beach there are activities available including para-sailing, bum-boat rides and jet ski rides or you can take diving or snorkeling trip. For a day out the nearby island, accessible by ferry or cable car, offers an amazing water theme park with slides and plenty of activities.
For more of a true beach resort feel head to Mui Ne, which is just 4 hours by road from Ho Chi Minh City. You can choose from a range of low- rise resort style properties featuring various rooms and bungalow options. The stunning beach is complimented with a small local village featuring bars and restaurants.
Mui Ne is hugely popular with wind-surfers who head to various spots to take advantage of off-shore winds. You can also take a visit to the red sand dunes or the nearby main town of Phan Thiet which is a fishing village known for making the popular fish sauce used in cooking. All in all a great place to chill out.
Then for something really different, Vietnam is also home to Phu Quoc Island located just under an hours flight from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). This island escape is mostly a National Park but it is circled with quiet beaches and a choice of smaller resorts. A great option for those preferring something less touristy or to enjoy walks or exploring the park area or that true ‘island feel’.
