“Thank you Nicky our trip was great. Everything went as smooth as silk and we had a very relaxing time which was our intent. The highlight for me was the Ha Long Bay cruise and we loved Hoi An.
Throughout the accommodation was excellent, Grand Hotel Saigon, Silk Path at Hanoi and the Vinh Hung at Hoi An was great. Flights all went to schedule and we were met and dropped off very well by Active Asia they are a great company. Everywhere we went the people were lovely. The food was fabulous especially on the cruise but also at the hotels and the many restaurants and café’s we popped in to. Some times our walks took a while as we would pop in for a drink to refresh and get out of the heat. The Hanoi traffic I would never get used to, its just awful, HCMC was better and Hoi An no issues as a walking centre.
We have returned with tailored clothes and some lacquer ornaments and some lovely blue and white china to remind us of the trip. Thank you for your good work and please pass on our thanks also to Active Asia.”

“Wow we had an absolutely fabulous trip to Japan! Loved every minute of it. Have been meaning to let you know that everything went well.
The weather was perfect, food amazing all the accommodation was great. So enjoyed travelling on the trains, it was so easy and the language barrier was not as hard as we thought it would be.
Probably one of the things we would change is 1 less night in Hakone and an extra night in Hiroshima. We loved the place that we stayed at in Hakone, great experience, but not so much to do there, although we were lucky with the weather and had a great first day to go on the cable car and ropeway and got the views of Mount Fuji, so we got what we wanted to do done in the one day! When we booked our train from Kyoto to Hiroshima we couldn’t get on the earlier one so arrived later than we wanted, which left us a bit short of time in Hiroshima, which was a beautiful city and so interesting at the museum and peace memorial park, hence an extra night would have been good. If getting the green car japan rail pass would recommend booking your trains in plenty of time so you get your choice. (some routes were busier than others).
We loved our After 5 Tour of Tokyo, the Back Streets of Kyoto Cycling tour and the walking tour in Kyoto (Arashiyama) – just depends what your interests are I suppose. Also the Golden Gai area in Tokyo was great, found some awesome tiny bars and the Gion district in Kyoto. Fushimi Inari was worth visiting too (best time to go is early morning to miss the crowds) easy to get to on the train.
We are really pleased that we chose to do an independent tour, and just had some day trips organised but with free time to do our own things – a full on organised tour would not have been our thing (which is what we first looked at).
Would definitely recommend Japan, lots of new experiences every day. We were probably a little bit too early for the autumn colours, the leaves were just beginning to change colour – maybe November would be better for that.

“My wife and I have recently returned from our excellent trip to Vietnam, and I have to say the organisation by you guys and Active Asia Vietnam was excellent. Everything, but everything ran like clockwork and the guides and organisation were superb. We have fallen in love with the Vietnamese people who are generally so pleasant and cheerful and helpful.
The accommodation was excellent and we were very glad to have been staying in Hoi An rather than Da Nang. What a wonderfully historic town and full of character. The hotel provided a free boat cruise on the river every day and it was a great way to see this town from the water. The sound of the boat engines and the big single cylinder motors with huge flywheels will stick with me…. these date back to the 1950s and every boat has one. Hoi An being a no cars, no taxis town means everyone on foot or bicycle or cyclo.
The guides were very good, even in the extreme heat of Hanoi where it was 43C on our second day there. We were very glad to be on the really excellent Orchid Cruise on Ha Long Bay. This proved to be a huge success, a really beautiful ship which was only four months old. The pick up from the hotel in Hanoi and the transfer was perfectly done with a minibus to the departure port, which was chaotic in the heat, but once we were on board we were in the lap of luxury. A beautiful ship and the cabins are huge… the biggest I have seen on any cruise ship anywhere.
As it was a cruise with an adventure element, it was a young crowd all in their thirties which was enormous fun. Lots of activities including, kayaking, swimming and visiting a fishing village after cycling there. Very much recommended.
The hotel in Hanoi was really great. Very gold and glitz an Asian way, quite extraordinary. Service was very good. I appreciate your input to an excellent itinerary which was perfect for our needs, regards”

“Our Vietnam trip was the most amazing well organised holiday we’ve ever been on and we’ve travelled! From start to finish the luxury accommodation was a total dream. The best travel advisories to deal with, they listened well to what we wanted from our holiday, made fantastic suggestions and we were completely wow’d!!!! Halong Bay was beautiful, romantic and the activities on the boat were unforgettable, our favourite. Hoi An was spectacular, the lights and evening shopping simply beautiful and fun. Danang beach relaxing luxury and Ho Chi Min City fast paced with the best end of our holiday a night time Vintage Vespa tour! We couldn’t recommend Active Asia New Zealand more, best holiday and experience ever! Thoroughly recommend =) =) =)”
