Good Morning Saigon! Begin this morning with a bright and early start to capture the magic of Ho Chi Minh City coming to life. Empty streets begin to fill with traffic as your guide walks you around downtown Ho Chi Minh City and past well-known historic buildings. Stop for a traditional local style coffee road-side or at the local park where you’ll be amazed at the people out and about exercising, walking, playing games or sitting and catching up with each other.

Then head to the Ben Thanh Markets to the fresh produce market, watch the bartering trade. Return to your hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast your guide will collect you to depart to Cu Chi Tunnels which are approximately 70km from Ho Chi Minh City. The tunnels were used by the Viet Cong during their fight with the American forces, and the myriad of underground passageways will amaze you. See how they lived underground with an opportunity to experience crawling through if you wish!

On the return to Ho Chi Minh City visit a lacquer ware workshop to learn how this wonderful highly polished art is made.

Afternoon is at leisure in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Mekong Delta is a highlight on any visit to Vietnam. Departing Ho Chi Minh City, your guide will take you past lush rice fields, through busy towns, to the mighty river.

You will have an opportunity to stop en-route to visit the intricate and colourful Cao Dai Temple. On arrival at Cai Be board a private boat to visit the bustling ‘Floating Market’ at Cai Be. The market is at its busiest early in the morning with lots of trading boats piled high with fruits and vegetables. Bring your camera for this exciting visit to an authentic and colourful market on water!

Then visit home industries making rice paper, pop rice and coconut candy. Lunch is included at a local restaurant before boarding smaller boats to traverse and explore the smaller estuaries and canals. Here you will see typical Mekong Delta rural life, local houses perched on stilts on the edge of the riverbanks and bonsai gardens and orchards. Late afternoon you’ll arrive to overnight at a local family’s guesthouse on the riverbank. You can cycle along the village paths and then help prepare dinner. Accommodation is basic; some with shared rooms and stretcher type beds, but the experience is magical.

After breakfast visit a local brick kiln and a floating village before disembarking at Vinh Long. Explore the markets before beginning the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City arriving late afternoon.
