Today visit the former capital of Cambodia between 1618 and 1866 – Phnom Udong.
Travel west of Phnom Penh where the hills of the abandoned royal city lie. Several temples, stupas and other structures cover three hills. The walk up the hill provides an excellent countryside view. These hills were also the site of some of the Khmer Rouge’s most prolonged resistance against the encroaching Vietnamese army in 1979. After time to enjoy and explore the stupas and views of the Cambodian countryside, return to Phnom Penh.
