Start with the colourful Nyaung U Market where locals from surrounding villages gather for produce, crafts and other goods. Next, it’s Shwezigon Pagoda, one of Bagan’s oldest and impressive monuments, followed by a visit to a lacquer ware workshop. The final stop is Ananda Temple, a masterpiece of Mon architecture with four standing Buddhas, and the adjacent brick monastery from the early Bagan era with well-preserved murals.
