This Sapa package is set amongst spectacular rolling hills in the north of Vietnam near the Chinese border.

It combines your overnight train journeys from Hanoi to Lao Cai (train station), accommodation in Sapa and a two day trek among colourful ethnic villages and through spectacular scenery. Mist often swirls around the hills as local villagers tend to their farms and animals and go about their daily life. The trek is easy for anyone of average fitness. Experience a stay with a local family, although arrangements are basic, you will be warmly welcomed and gain a unique insight into the local way of life – it will leave you with many wonderful memories.

Itinerary


Day 1: Hanoi - Sapa (Overnight Train)

This evening, you will be collected from your Hanoi hotel and transferred to Hanoi Railway Station for your overnight train to Lao Cai on the Chinese border.
Please Note: The standard trains in Vietnam are basic – you will travel in an air-conditioned 4-berth shared sleeper which offers beds in an upper and lower bunk configuration with a toilet at the end of each carriage.

Day 2: Sapa (B)

This morning you’ll arrive at Lao Cai on the Chinese border where a local bus meets the train for the transfer to Sapa (cost approx. US$3 per person, payable direct upon boarding the bus). A one hour drive through the winding hills brings you to Sapa, a small town which is the centre point of the surrounding villages.

On arrival in Sapa make your way to your hotel where breakfast today is included for you due to your early arrival. The day is then free for you to self explore this delightful town high in the mountains.


Day 3: Sapa (B,L,D)

This morning, a local English speaking guide will collect you from your hotel for your two day trek. Depart Sapa and walk through the rolling hills witnessing daily life as you stroll between ethnic villages. Mist often swirls around the hills as local villagers tend their farms and animals as they go about their daily life. The trek is easy for anyone of average fitness. Good walking shoes with good tread and a day pack is all that is required. Approximate walking time today is five hours. Tonight you will overnight at a local family’s homestay/guesthouse where sleeping arrangements are basic.

Day 4: Sapa - Hanoi (Overnight Train) (B)

Continue walking the hills on your return to Sapa in time to board the bus back to Lao Cai and the overnight train to Hanoi.

Day 5: Day 5: Hanoi

Early morning, arrive back at Hanoi Railway Station where tour arrangements end
