First stop is Sri Lanka, famed for its natural beauty, colonial history (and of course, its tea plantations) head straight to Negombo, a large old fishing town which still holds the old-world atmosphere with 17th century churches and forts laying as evidence to the Dutch and Portuguese chapters of history. Begin by visiting Sri Lanka’s oldest historic monuments where you can climb the famous Sigiriya Rock. Also known as ‘Lion’s Rock’, here the old fort was built by King Kashyapa (AD 477-495) and later used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century.
A jeep safari at Wilpattu National Park offers adventure, with it being among the top national park’s, world renowned for its leopard population. Spend an afternoon at leisure in Anuradhapura, a city that stands as testament to the height of Sri Lanka’s Buddhist culture and heritage through its architectural marvels.
Travel into Kandy, then wander through the streets and via Kandy Lake which dominates the town. Visit the local market which draws in the community and enjoy a day at leisure to self-explore before travelling to Hatton by train. This epic train journey is one of the most scenic you will ever take in your life! A major centre of the Sri Lankan tea industry, Hatton is one of the busiest cities in the hill country.
From Hatton, head south to Galle, a vibrant coastal town that boasts a rich cultural heritage. For the final part of the tour, a short flight over to the Maldives is followed by five nights of relaxation and indulgence at a five-star Maldivian island. Wade in the shallow shores, laze on a white beach and snorkel in crystal-clear waters for a perfect end to the tour. This is truly as chic and luxurious as you can get.
