Itinerary


Day 1: Lijiang

Arrive in Lijiang and transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day spent at leisure.

Day 2: Lijiang (B)

This morning stroll through the countless narrow lanes and canals crisscrossing the picturesque old town and climb Lion Hill for a bird’s eye view. Visit local markets, tea and coffees shops along with Black Dragon Pool Park with views of Jade Dragon Mountain. In the afternoon visit the life and work museum of Austrian-American Botanist Joseph Rock.

Day 3: Lijiang-Qiaotou-Tiger Leaping Gorge-Shaxi (B)

Today, embark on a scenic drive to Qiaotou, located at the entrance to Tiger Leaping Gorge, named so due to a legend describing how a tiger escaped its hunters by leaping across the Yangtze River in one go. Reputedly considered one of the deepest canyons in the world, measuring 16km long, hike the gravel roads to unveil spectacular scenery.

Day 4: Shaxi-Shibaoshan-Xizhou (B)

This morning explore Shaxi old town at leisure before transferring to Xizhou. En-route stop at Shibao Mountain, the impressive rock carvings found here are over 1,300 years old. In the afternoon head to Erhai Lake and take in the calm atmosphere and magnificent views.

Day 5: Xizhou-Dali-Xizhou (B)

Once serving as the capital during the 9th century, explore Dali and its old town, markets, unique Catholic church, temples and monastery.

Day 6: Xizhou-Kunming (B)

This morning transfer to Dali Airport for a flight to Kunming, where the renowned Stone Forest is visited. A popular attraction, years of rain and erosion has left behind a bizarre and impressive landscape of limestone pillars which, with a little imagination, indeed resembles a forest. Walk through the maze of paths and walkways leading through this natural wonderland.

Day 7: Kunming (B)

This morning visit the Ethnic Minority Museum which exhibits the 26 ethnic minorities in Yunnan. Continue on to Dragon Gate for views over Dianchi Lake and Kunming before heading to a secluded Bamboo temple with an array of sculptures of ‘Arhats’, former monks that have reached Nirvana. Later, transfer to Kunming Airport where tour arrangements end.
