Explore the village of X Linh, home to the Red Hmong and Blue Hmong minority people, before transferring to Ninh Binh. Here, board a small boat, relax and take in the scenic views of this stunning region.

Itinerary


Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau

Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel and a 2 hour journey to Hoa Binh.
Through the mountains to Mai Chau making stops along the way to take advantage of the fantastic photo opportunities that this area affords as well as some short treks to visit some of the local villages of the Muong people. Enjoy lunch at the Lac village. After lunch you will have the opportunity to walk around and continue to experience the lifestyle of the ethnic hill-tribes in the local villages. Your stop for the evening is at a traditional stilt-house in a village of the White Thai minority. Here you will enjoy a traditional dinner and a comfortable night’s sleep – blankets and pillow provided.

Day 2: Mai Chau – Xa Linh – Ninh Binh

Today you will greet the sunrise with an early breakfast before transferring to the village of Xa Linh. Enjoy the beautiful valleys and peaceful scenery on the 35km drive to Xa Linh which is home to the Red H’mong and Blue H’mong minority people. The Red H’mong women are well known for their “big hair”; they collect any hair that falls from their heads and weave it back into their living hair to create bouffant styles. You will return to Mai Chau for lunch before continuing on to Ninh Binh – the Ha Long Bay on land – at 14.00hrs. You will have opportunities to take photos of the picturesque scenery on the journey before arriving at Ninh Binh at approximately 5.30pm. Here you will check into the Thuy Anh Hotel before enjoying a restaurant dinner.

Day 3: Ninh Binh – Hanoi

Following breakfast, you will depart for the journey to Tam Coc. Here you will board a small boat where you can sit back and relax as a local villager rows you through the rice fields and mountain ranges of this stunning region. You will pass through three tunnel caves that have been hewn from the limestone by the forces of nature. After your 2.5hr journey you will visit the historic Bich Dong Pagoda (built in the 15th Century) before enjoying a restaurant lunch. Following lunch, you will board your vehicle for a scenic countryside drive to the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Here there remain two temples dedicated to King Dinh and King Le, heroes and dynastic founders from the 10th Century. After immersing yourself in the history of the area you will once again board your vehicle for the return journey to Ha Noi. Your tour will end at your hotel at approximately 5.30pm.
